Yew Tree Barn sits within the grounds of Yew Tree Cottage, in the tranquil Hampshire village of Houghton — two miles along the valley from Stockbridge, and a world away from anywhere louder.
The barn itself was recently completed, built in the traditional vernacular of the Test Valley: brick and flint, oak and tile, the silhouettes the valley has known for centuries. Step through the door, however, and the interior turns contemporary — clean lines, generous light, open-plan bathing, an upstairs gallery that looks out across the water meadows.
It is, deliberately, a tasteful mix of the old and the new. A building that belongs to its landscape, finished for the traveller who notices the details. We aim to provide exclusive, warm and luxurious accommodation for the discerning — fishermen walking the river at first light, couples on a quiet weekend, those simply seeking the slower country.
The views are spectacular. The garden is private. And the River Test, famous for its trout and fly fishing, is quite literally at the bottom of the lawn.
