The Parchment
The smallest of the five, but the lightest. A studio on the second floor with a dormer window looking out over the rooftops toward St. Cross. Quiet enough that you forget the High Street is fifty paces away.
Five serviced apartments on Parchment Street — one minute from the Cathedral, ten from the train. For stays that are too long for a hotel and too short for a tenancy.
Parchment House is a single Georgian building turned into five individually designed apartments. We host business travellers on three-week secondments, families visiting the cathedral school, contractors at the hospital, and people who just need a quiet place to land while the solicitors do their work. No corporate front desk, no plastic key cards — just a beautiful front door on a quiet street in the centre of Winchester, and a real human at the end of the phone if you need anything.
Each apartment is its own space — different light, different layout, different things on the walls. What they share: oak floors, proper kitchens, linen you'll want to take home, and a silence you don't expect to find so close to the High Street.

A proper one-bed with a separate sitting room. Books on the shelves (good ones), a deep cream sofa, and a window seat where morning light lands at 8:15 in June. The one returning guests ask for by name.
The top-floor loft. Beamed ceilings, a velvet armchair the colour of wet bark, and a freestanding tub positioned so you can watch the swallows in summer. Generous work desk, perfect for the long-stay consultants.
Two bedrooms, one of which is tucked under the eaves with a single skylight. Built for families visiting the cathedral schools, or for two colleagues on the same project who would rather not share a wall. Sunny kitchen, generous table.
A list of what comes as standard — because you shouldn't have to email to ask.
Hungarian down duvets, 300-thread-count cotton, and a mattress that a chiropractor helped us choose. Changed weekly, with fresh towels mid-stay.
Full oven, hob, and fridge. Proper knives. A cast-iron pan. Olive oil, salt, coffee beans, and a starter bag of essentials on arrival.
A dedicated 900 Mbps line, no shared bandwidth. Tested in every room, on every wall. We host consultants who can't afford a frozen Zoom call.
A bottle of something local from Hambledon Vineyard on the counter. A printed map of our five favourite Winchester walks. Bread and milk in the fridge.
By a small team we've worked with for four years, not an agency. Mid-stay refresh available on request for stays over seven nights.
Call us at 11pm because the boiler is making a noise — that's fine. +44 7884 088739. We live ten minutes away and we'll come over.
Number 26 sits on a quiet residential lane just off the High Street. The cathedral is visible from the upstairs windows. The train station is a flat ten-minute walk with a small suitcase. The water meadows — where Keats walked, apparently — are at the bottom of the road.
Booking is direct, by phone or by email. There is no online calendar — we prefer to talk to you before you arrive, so we know whether you need a cot, a late checkout, or directions from the station. It's old-fashioned. We think that's the point.
