A newly constructed, oak-framed deluxe apartment in the Hampshire countryside. Two double bedrooms, exposed beams, and complete peace — the perfect base for coast, culture, and quiet.
"Willow Bank House offers you complete peace, quiet and tranquillity — a perfect base from which to explore the culture, coast, countryside and history of Hampshire."
Tucked down Saunders Lane on the edge of Romsey, Willow Bank Barn is a labour of love: a newly constructed, oak-framed apartment built to honour the craft and character of the English country home. Exposed oak pillars and beams run through both double bedrooms, dressed in soft modern linens and natural light.
Whether you are waking to birdsong over the Test Valley, walking the rose-brick lanes of Romsey, or retreating here after a day at Mottisfont, this is Hampshire as it was meant to be experienced.
Both bedrooms share the same oak vocabulary — exposed pillars, soft cream linens, and views that ask nothing of you but to slow down.
The principal double looks west across the valley.Exposed oak pillars frame the bed, while a pair of soft chairs by the window invite the kind of afternoon where you simply watch the field change colour.
The second double faces the garden and willow line. Furnished in light, modern colours that lift the oak rather than compete with it — a quiet, restful retreat after a day on the coast or down in Salisbury.
From Willow Bank Barn the best of Hampshire unfurls in every direction — chalk streams and cathedral cities, rose-bricked market towns and the slow blue line of the south coast.
A medieval priory on the banks of the Test, home to a National Trust rose garden that peaks in late June. One of the most photographed gardens in southern England.
A historic market town with a Norman abbey at its heart. Wander the Tudor streets, browse the independent shops on Bell Street, and stop for tea in a centuries-old courtyard.
The ancient capital of England. Walk the water meadows, visit the Cathedral where Jane Austen is buried, and dine in the shadow of King Arthur's round table.
The spire of Salisbury Cathedral to the west, the wild ponies and ancient woodland of the New Forest to the south-west. Both within easy reach for a half-day adventure.
Continue south to Southampton Water, the marina at Hamble, or the sailing town of Lymington. Coast, countryside and culture — all reachable from one perfect base.
One of England's finest chalk stream valleys. Walk public footpaths along the river, watch red kites circle overhead, and return to the barn with mud on your boots.
Wake in your own time. Breakfast at Willow Bank is a generous, unhurried affair — fresh bread from the Romsey bakery, local Hampshire eggs, seasonal fruit, and teas brewed strong enough to plan a day by.
For special occasions, champagne is available on request. Because some mornings in the countryside deserve to be marked properly.
