New-patient consultation
A full history and physical, review of prior records, medication reconciliation, and a written care plan. We set aside a full hour for first visits so nothing gets cut short.
A solo internal medicine practice on the Gulf Coast, built around long conversations, unhurried visits, and the kind of continuity that comes from seeing the same physician for years — not minutes.
Dr. Blackwell trained in internal medicine at a Texas academic center and has practiced on the Gulf Coast for over a decade. The clinic is intentionally small: one physician, a registered nurse, and a small front-desk team — so the person you call is the person who knows your history.
Indicative self-pay pricing is listed for transparency. Most insured visits are billed through your plan; we accept major commercial plans, traditional Medicare, and offer a self-pay option for the uninsured.

Ongoing management of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, cholesterol, thyroid disease, asthma, and COPD. Visits are scheduled long enough to actually adjust treatment — not just refill.
Complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, lipid panel, A1c, TSH, and vitamin D drawn on-site. Most results are back within 24 hours and reviewed with you directly — not by portal auto-message.
The yearly visit most plans cover at no cost: screenings, vaccinations, age-appropriate cancer surveillance, and a frank conversation about risk. For uninsured patients, the self-pay rate is $220.
Respiratory infections, urinary symptoms, rashes, minor injuries, and medication adjustments. We hold same-day slots every weekday morning for established patients who need to be seen quickly.
History, physical, ECG, and risk stratification for patients scheduled for surgery elsewhere. We coordinate directly with your surgeon’s office and turn most clearances around within 48 hours.
Send the form below and our front desk will call you back within one business day to confirm a time. For urgent same-day needs, call the office directly when we open at 8:00 a.m.
After-hours calls route to our covering nurse line. For emergencies, dial 911 — we are not an emergency facility.
Whether you’re new to Galveston, changing physicians, or simply due for a visit — we’d rather talk it through than rush you in and out. Reach out, and we’ll find a time.
