The Wykeham Arms is a characterful country pub with rooms, tucked into pretty Kingsgate Village in the heart of Winchester. Expect low ceilings, time-worn wood, intimate snugs and an open fire that crackles through the winter months. It's the sort of place you settle into for an evening, not a passing pint.
Our menu is a seasonal celebration of high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients — paired with a fantastic selection of cask ales and an extensive cellar of hand-picked wines. For thirteen years running, we've been proud holders of two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence.
We've held two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence for thirteen consecutive years — a record we're quietly proud of. The kitchen is led by Head Chef Luke Emmess, a MasterChef: The Professionals finalist, whose cooking is rooted in the seasons and the produce of the South Downs.
Expect modern British plates built around high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients: game from the surrounding chalk downland, fish from the south coast, and herbs from the kitchen garden. Honest cooking, beautifully executed.

Over the centuries, the Wykeham has served everyone from scholars of the College to choristers of the Cathedral, from judges at the Assizes to walkers finishing the South Downs Way. The open fire has burned through every winter since, and the snugs have held countless whispered conversations.
