Our exquisite coaching inn dates back to the fifteenth century, set in the ancient Hampshire town of Stockbridge within the beautiful Test Valley. The Three Cups is ideally placed for a truly relaxing and memorable stay — a halfway house between Winchester and Salisbury, between the chalk streams and the downs.
Family-run by Lucia Martinez, the inn keeps the rhythm of an old Hampshire pub: open fires in winter, an Orangery that drinks in the garden through summer, and a bar where locals still take precedence over passing trade.
Eleven en suite rooms, each one individually dressed — never a formula, never a chain. Light, clean and airy, the way a Hampshire bedroom should be.
Every bedroom is dressed individually — old furniture mixed with new, fabric chosen for the light, beds made up by hand. No two stays are quite the same.
Choose your setting for the evening: the snug little dining room for two, the Orangery with the garden pouring in through the glass, or the bar with a pint and a plate of something proper.
Our bright, plant-filled Orangery looks onto the gardens — the room for long Sunday lunches, celebrations, and dinners that drift on past coffee.

Stockbridge sits on the River Test — chalk-stream country, the most prized trout water in England. The inn makes a fine base for fishing, walking, or doing very little indeed.
The Test runs through the town. Some of the most celebrated trout water in the country, with beats available by prior arrangement through the inn.
Footpaths lead out in every direction — across Houghton Meadow, up onto Stockbridge Down, or along the river itself. Maps at the bar.
Two cathedrals, both within half an hour. The New Forest, Mottisfont Abbey, and the Steam Railway at Watercress Line, all on the doorstep.
