The Palmerston Rooms Romsey · Est. Grade II
Grade II Listed · Romsey, Hampshire

An old house on Palmerston Street, recently and rather beautifully woken up.

Eight quiet rooms above the rooftops of Romsey — king suites, family lofts and snug singles — inside a building that has been keeping guests since the days it was called The Wessex.

The House

A short history of a long-standing Romsey address — formerly The Wessex Guest House, now thoroughly and lovingly brought into the present.

Three & five, Palmerston Street.

The Palmerston Rooms sits inside a handsome Grade II listed building in the very heart of Romsey — a market town with Saxon roots, an ancient abbey, and the sort of high street that still has a butcher, a baker and at least two proper bookshops.

Formerly known as The Wessex Guest House, the building has hosted travellers for decades. We have recently renovated and upgraded every corner — new bathrooms, fresh textiles, proper coffee — while leaving the bones of the old place exactly as they should be: tall sash windows, soft brickwork, and the slightly uneven floors that come with character.

Southampton is fifteen minutes by train. The New Forest begins roughly twelve minutes by car. Salisbury, Winchester and the waters of the Solent are all an easy morning out — and your bed for the night is waiting when you come back.
