Tucked just beyond the traditional Hampshire town of Fordingbridge — surrounded by rolling countryside and the slow, breathing expanse of the Cranborne Chase AONB — The Coach House waits.
Resting on the extensive grounds of the owner's home, this beautifully converted coach house occupies the upper floor: a single, soaring space crowned by vaulted ceilings and the original beams of its working past. Light moves across the timber from dawn until the last copper dusk.
Below, set apart within the garden, your own private spa garden waits — a hot tub beneath the open sky, with nothing but the call of buzzards and the rustle of the woods to keep you company.
The upstairs floor has been opened into a single, generous volume. Vaulted ceilings trace the building's agricultural bones; original beams run their full length above your head. There is no clutter here — only space, light, and the kind of quiet that asks you to stay another morning.
At one end, the multi-fuel burner crackles through cool evenings. At the other, a 55″ Freeview Smart TV with Netflix folds away when not in use. Between them: a long dining table made for slow breakfasts and longer dinners.
Every detail of The Coach House has been considered for two. No second bedroom, no compromise — just one beautifully resolved retreat.
A single, luminous room where living, dining and kitchen flow together beneath the original beams. The multi-fuel burner anchors one end; the kitchen — fully fitted, washer-dryer in the utility below — the other.
Set separately within the property. A hot tub under the open sky, surrounded by hedging and the sounds of the countryside.
One generous double, dressed in natural linens, framing views across the grounds to the rolling fields beyond.
The Coach House sits in peaceful isolation on the Whitsbury estate — yet within easy reach of some of southern England's most beloved landscapes.
Traditional Hampshire market town on the River Avon.
National park — wild ponies, ancient woodland, heathland.
Designated landscape of chalk downland and hidden valleys.
The medieval cathedral city, with its tallest spire in Britain.
We've stayed in many converted barns — this is the one we keep coming back to. The light through those beams in the morning, the quiet of the spa garden at night… it's the closest we've come to actually switching off.— Verified guest · Cottages.com · 4.9 average
