Cask Ales & Local Brews
Three rotating handpulls feature the best of Hampshire — from Ringwood and Itchen Valley to small-batch seasonal specials. Kept at cellar temperature, poured the proper way.
Tucked along Cobden Avenue in the heart of Bitterne Park, our independently run pub pours carefully kept cask ales, plates up seasonal British cooking, and plays host to the city's friendliest Sunday sessions — just a short stroll from the River Itchen.
“A proper pub. The kind Southampton has been quietly keeping to itself for years.”
— The Southern EchoFor over a century, the Bitterne Park Hotel has stood at the meeting point of Cobden Avenue and the river's bend. We've been through name changes, renovations, and a great deal of Southampton weather — but the spirit has never shifted.
Today, we remain proudly independently run. Our team lives locally, our beer is brewed within a short drive, and our menus change with the seasons of the Hampshire countryside. We're not a chain, and we don't pretend to be.
“The Sunday roast here is the best in SO18 — hands down. Crisp roasties, properly pink beef, and a gravy that deserves a medal. We walk down from Townhill Park every weekend.”

We're open seven days a week, serving food from midday. Walk-ins are always welcome, but tables on Friday and Saturday evenings tend to book up — so do let us know you're coming.
