Speedy Cafe
A retro-futurist diner where the espresso pulls thick, the kitchen never sleeps, and the clock on the wall is only a suggestion. Open early. Serving late.
A diner that
remembered
the future.
Speedy Cafe opened on a quiet corner of Texas City in the spring of 2014, built into the shell of a 1962 gas station. We kept the terrazzo floor. We kept the neon. We added a kitchen that takes itself seriously without ever getting stiff about it.
What we serve is unhurried food made quickly — a la carte plates that respect the ingredient, coffee that earns its crema, and a room that feels equally right at sunrise or last call. The clock spins on the wall, but the work is slow on purpose.
Locals know us for the brisket, the late-night coffee, and the fact that the lights are on when most of the city has gone dark. Pull up a booth. Stay a while.

Where the
neon still hums.
Booths along the window, counter along the kitchen, a long bar of single-origin coffee. The room was built for staying.

We're easy to find and easier to sit down in. Walk-ins are always welcome, but if you're coming with a group, a quick heads-up helps us hold the right table. Use the form, or just call us on the way over.
