The Practice
Patrick Sweet, MD, is a board-certified internist who has cared for adults on Galveston Island since 2003. After his residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch, he chose to stay — drawn by the patients, the salt air, and a community that values a doctor who picks up the phone.
His practice is small by design. Most visits run forty minutes, not fifteen. That time is spent asking better questions, reviewing your history in detail, and explaining the reasoning behind every test and prescription — not rushing you out the door.
From annual physicals to complex diagnostic workups, the practice offers the full breadth of adult primary care. Indicative pricing for self-pay visits is listed below; most commercial insurance and Medicare are accepted.
A 40-minute preventive exam reviewing your full history, vitals, cognitive and cardiovascular screening, and an individualized plan for the year ahead.
Ongoing care for hypertension, type 2 diabetes, thyroid disorders, and asthma. Quarterly check-ins, lab review, and medication titration between visits.
For symptoms that don't add up yet — fatigue, weight loss, persistent pain. Extended visit with targeted lab and imaging orders, plus a follow-up to discuss results.
Acute concerns — fevers, infections, minor injuries, medication reactions. Reserved daily for established patients with same-day or next-morning availability.
History, physical, EKG, and risk stratification prior to surgery. Coordinated directly with your surgeon's office and the hospital on the island.
For medication adjustments, lab review, and stable chronic care. A secure video visit from home or work — ideal for follow-ups that don't require an exam.
