From $4.50 · Tall $7A neighborhood bar on Main Street in La Marque, Texas. Cold beer, stiff pours, a jukebox that still takes quarters, and a kitchen that runs late. No dress code. No attitude. Just a stool with your name on it.
Our Story
Main Street has had a bar on this corner for as long as anyone in La Marque can remember. We just kept the lights on.
Murphy’s On Main has been the after-work, after-everything bar on this block of La Marque since the summer of 2009. The sign out front is hand-painted, the brass foot-rail is original, and the pool table has been re-felted exactly twice. We don’t have a dress code. We do have a regular named Ray who will beat you at eight-ball.
The kitchen runs later than most on this stretch of Highway 3 — burgers, wings, and a basket of fries that arrives hot enough to burn the roof of your mouth if you don’t respect it. The beer list is short and honest. The pours are tall. The jukebox still takes quarters, and yes, it works.
Pull up a stool, ask for the daily special, and stay long enough to hear the second song.
Why Murphy’s
We pour to the line, not above it. You’ll always know what’s in the glass, and it’ll always be the same — Tuesday or Saturday.
The fryer stays on. When you get off a long shift or a longer drive, there’s a hot basket of something waiting till midnight — 2am on weekends.
We learn your name on the second visit and your drink on the third. New folks are welcome — most of our regulars were new once, too.
Inside Murphy’s
Wood, brass, neon, and a jukebox that still works. Come see for yourself.
