Small smiles.
Wisconsin Ave
A calm, modern pediatric dental practice on Wisconsin Avenue — built for infants, children, and teens who deserve more than a waiting room and a fluorescent light.
A children's dental home, not a clinic.
Metropolitan Pediatric Dentistry was founded in 2009 with a simple premise: children deserve a dental experience designed around them — not squeezed into an adult schedule.
Our team sees patients from a child's first tooth through their college years. We move slowly when we need to, explain everything we touch, and never restrain a child for the sake of finishing a procedure. Parents are welcome in the room for every visit, every time.
The practice is located on the ground floor of a residential building on Wisconsin Avenue, two blocks from the Friendship Heights Metro. The space was designed with a pediatric occupational therapist — soft lighting, low-sound operatory equipment, and a quiet room for children with sensory sensitivities.

What we do, and what it costs.
Transparent, indicative pricing for our most common visits. Final estimates are provided before any treatment begins — no surprise line items, ever. We're out-of-network with most insurance and happy to file claims on your behalf.
New patient exam
A first-visit assessment including a soft-tissue check, occlusion review, and a parent conversation about home care. No cleaning at this visit unless your child is ready.
Preventive cleaning
A gentle prophylaxis, fluoride varnish, and a child-friendly brushing review. Recommended every six months for most kids; every three for kids in braces.
Tooth-colored filling
Composite restorations for small-to-moderate decay, placed with rubber dam isolation. We never use amalgam on primary teeth. Laser option available for select cases.
Implant consultation
For older teens missing a permanent tooth due to trauma or congenital absence — a staged plan, imaging review, and referral to our partner oral surgeons when ready.
Professional whitening
Take-home custom trays for teens 14 and up, with enamel-safe gel concentration and a dentist-supervised schedule. Not offered for children with mixed dentition.
Early orthodontics
Phase-one expansion and alignment for kids ages 6–10, plus comprehensive braces and clear aligners for teens. Includes all adjustments and one set of retainers.
Sports mouthguard
Custom-fitted, pressure-laminated mouthguards for soccer, lacrosse, and hockey — made on-site in a single visit and replaced free until your child outgrows them.
Four things we don't compromise on.
We're a small practice by design. That lets us hold standards most pediatric dental offices can't — and to keep them, even when the schedule gets tight.
One patient at a time
We never double-book operators. Your child gets the full attention of their dentist and assistant from the moment they sit down to the moment they leave.
Sensory-aware design
A dedicated quiet room with dimmable lighting, weighted lap pads, and noise-reducing headphones — designed alongside a pediatric occupational therapist.
Parents in the room
Always. No exceptions. We don't separate children from their adults for cleanings, exams, or treatment — and we never ask you to wait in the lobby.
Same-day emergencies
If your child chips a tooth at soccer practice on a Tuesday, we will see them that day. Our schedule holds open slots every afternoon for exactly this reason.
A practice designed to feel like home.
The office was built out of a 1920s street-level retail space on Wisconsin Avenue. We kept the original oak floors and added operatory windows that face a small interior courtyard.
