New Builds
Ground-up construction of adobe, straw-bale, and frame homes, designed with a Santa Fe architect or your own. We handle permits, foundation, framing, and every finish in between.
MAK Comfort is a Santa Fe construction and remodeling studio. We build new homes, renovate old ones, and finish interiors with a quiet attention to material, climate, and the long arc of living well in northern New Mexico.
We grew out of a finish-carpentry shop, and that origin still shapes how we build. The joinery matters. The plaster matters. The way a door latches matters. We are not the fastest contractor in town, and we will not pretend to be.
We build slowly, on purpose, for people who plan to stay.
Our work spans new adobe and straw-bale construction, full-gut renovations of mid-century homes off Old Santa Fe Trail, kitchen and bath remodels in Las Campanas, and detailed interior finishes across the city. We pull permits. We carry liability insurance. We write fixed-price contracts, not vague estimates.
A 1972 ranch off Bishop's Lodge Road, gutted to the studs and reimagined with hand-troweled plaster, reclaimed Douglas fir floors, and a new kitchen built around a single 14-foot island. Move the slider to walk through the transformation.

Gut remodels of kitchens, baths, and whole homes. We tear out to the studs, rewire and replumb, then rebuild with materials that fit the original house and the climate it sits in.
Hand-troweled plaster walls, reclaimed wood floors, custom doors, cabinetry, and trim. The work that turns a structure into a place you actually want to come home to.
Standalone kitchen and bath remodels, from layout to last drawer pull. We work with local stone fabricators and tile setters, and we build our own cabinetry in-house when it makes sense.
Repair and restoration of historic adobe homes — re-plastering, viga and latilla replacement, foundation stabilization, and window work that respects the original architecture.
Every project begins with a free on-site walkthrough and a written, fixed-price estimate within five business days. No hourly billing surprises. No vague allowances. No pressure.
We come to your home, listen to what you want to build, and take measurements. Free, no obligation, usually under an hour.

They treated our 1968 adobe like it was their own. The plasterwork alone changed how the whole house feels. We have recommended MAK to three neighbors on our street.
