A self-contained, single-storey retreat for four — vaulted ceilings, two ensuite bedrooms, and a private deck that steps down onto your own lawn. Quietly positioned beside three acres of cultivated garden, ten minutes from the open forest.
Lavender Lea sits on the edge of — and looks out over — a three-acre cottage garden, and guests have free access during opening hours. It's the sort of detail that quietly shapes a stay: coffee on the deck overlooking herbaceous borders, an evening walk between beds of lavender and roses, the gate to the New Forest a short drive down the lane.
The lodge itself is single-storey and entirely self-contained, with a vaulted ceiling rising over a light, open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge. One king bedroom, one twin, both with their own bathrooms. Outside, a deck with seating steps down to a small private lawn — yours to do nothing on, at considerable length.
Peace and quiet are the actual point here. You're deep enough in the Wiltshire countryside to hear rooks and wind in the trees, close enough to Salisbury, the coast, and the forest to fill a week without retracing your steps.
The kitchen, dining and lounge sit together beneath a vaulted ceiling — a single, airy room that opens onto the deck. Settle into the sofa with the Freeview TV and DVD player, or pull a chair to the window and watch the garden shift through the afternoon.
A king-size bedroom for slow weekends and a twin that's happy to host children or friends — both with their own ensuite, so nobody queues in the morning. Crisp linens, soft lighting, and blinds that actually keep the summer dawn out past six.
Outside seating for four, stepping down to a small lawned garden of your own.
Steady enough for a film in the evening, an email home, or a quiet work-from-lodge morning.
Private, on-site, and right beside the lodge door. No lanes to reverse down with luggage.
Cook properly, eat leisurely, and stay a week without ever feeling under-resourced. The kitchen sits at the heart of the open-plan space, with full-size appliances and everything you'd expect to find at home.
Lavender Lea is in Landford — a quiet village on the Wiltshire–Hampshire border, where the lanes narrow and the hedgerows take over. The New Forest opens up to the south and east; the cathedral city of Salisbury lies to the north-west; the Hampshire and Dorset coasts are an easy day away.
"The sort of place you arrive at stressed and leave already planning when to come back. The garden is extraordinary and the lodge is genuinely immaculate."
"Walked straight out onto the forest before breakfast, came back to a warm shower and a proper kitchen. Our kids didn't want to leave the lawn."
"Spotless, calm, beautifully positioned. The cottage garden next door was a genuine surprise — we spent hours in it. We've already booked again."
Lavender Lea is booked directly with the owners and through select holiday partners. Weekly and short-break stays are available throughout the year, including school holidays. Get in touch to check current availability and 2026 rates.
