J & A Groundworks Ltd is an independent, owner-operated groundwork and civil engineering company based at Boames Farm on the western edge of Newbury. We work for self-builders, developers, architects and main contractors across Berkshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire.
We run our own plant — excavators, dumpers, rollers and wagons — so the programme stays in our hands. That means we don't blame the subbie when the weather turns or the schedule tightens. We just get on with it.
Every job is signed off properly, with building control notices, engineer's drawings and drainage tests all in hand. Quiet, tidy, professional groundwork — that's the standard our name is built on.

Site visit & scope
We walk the plot, review the drawings and talk through access, ground conditions and timings before any quote goes out.

Fixed quote
You receive a clear, itemised quotation within five working days. No vague allowances, no daywork rates hidden in the small print.

Mobilisation
Plant, operators and materials arrive on the agreed date. We set up safely, log the levels and get straight into the ground.

Sign-off
Building control sign-off, drainage tests and a clean handover to your superstructure contractor. We don't vanish at the finish line.
