§ 05 — Good to know

Frequently asked.

How do I register as a new patient?+
If you live within our practice boundary in Bursledon, Hamble or the surrounding SO31 area, pop in with two forms of ID (one with your address) and our reception team will get you registered. You can also begin the process through the NHS App.
What's the difference between the GP practice and the Urgent Care Centre?+
Bursledon Surgery is both. The GP practice handles your routine care — appointments, prescriptions, reviews — while the on-site Urgent Care Centre treats minor injuries and urgent concerns that need same-day attention but aren't 999 emergencies. Both share the same Lowford Hill building.
Can I be seen in the evening or at the weekend?+
Yes. As an Extended Access Hub, we offer appointments on weekday evenings until 21:30 and on Saturdays from 09:00. These slots are available to patients registered with any Hamble Valley Health practice.
Which online consultation system should I use?+
Whichever you prefer — eConsult, RapidHealth, PATCHS and Accurx all arrive at the same clinical inbox. eConsult is best for symptom-led requests; PATCHS and Accurx are great for admin queries and repeats.
How do I order a repeat prescription?+
The fastest route is online via the NHS App, PATCHS or Accurx. We no longer accept repeat requests over the phone. Allow two working days before collecting from your nominated pharmacy.
What do I do when the surgery is closed?+
Call NHS 111 free from any phone — available 24 hours a day. For chest pain, severe bleeding, stroke symptoms or any life-threatening emergency, dial 999 immediately.
