What we build
Five trades,
one crew.
Most landscapers sub-contract the hard stuff. We don't. The hands that design your garden are the same hands laying the stone, setting the joints and planting the final hawthorn.
Drives that don't subside.
Excavated to a minimum 200mm depth, MOT Type 1 sub-base, machine-compacted in three passes. Edging courses set in concrete, joints swept with kiln-dried sand.
Closeboard, featheredge & slatted.
Pressure-treated timber, concrete or timber posts concreted 600mm deep. Gates hung on galvanised adjustable bands, never T-hinges.
Beds with year-round structure.
Soil improved with organic compost, mulched at 75mm. Specimen olive, multi-stem birch and architectural grasses for low-maintenance texture.
Level seedbeds and instant lawns.
Stone-raked, firmed and top-soiled to 100mm. Rolawn Medallion turf laid brick-bond, watered in and left with a written aftercare sheet.
We don't disappear afterwards.
Seasonal visits to keep edges crisp, hedges tight and beds mulched. Same crew, same faces, no call-centre.

GJL Paving & Landscaping was founded in 2009 by Gary Lawrence — third-generation groundworker, born two postcodes from where we now lay most of our stone.
The crew is small on purpose. Six of us, all employed direct. You'll meet Gary on the quote, see the same faces on the dig, and a written aftercare pack when we hand back the keys to your garden.
