01 — About the Practice

Where laboratory science meets the bedside.

Internal medicine originated in late-19th-century Germany to describe physicians who combined laboratory science with bedside clinical care. We still practice that way.

We specialize in comprehensive internal medicine and infectious disease care — serving patients with a strong focus on health, prevention, and personalized treatment.

Our infectious disease physicians in Palm Beach are committed to providing expert care tailored to your unique needs. Whether you are seeking a specialist for diagnosis, treatment, or ongoing management, our team supports your health at every step.

Internists complete seven years of medical and post-graduate training, pass a rigorous board certification examination, and are skilled in the comprehensive management of the whole patient. Some pursue additional fellowship training to sub-specialize in one of the nineteen internal medicine subspecialties — infectious disease among them.

An infectious disease specialist completes a two-to-three-year fellowship beyond internal medicine before sitting for board examination. The work demands an extensive understanding of bacterial, viral, mycobacterial, fungal, and parasitic infections — alongside antimicrobial agents, antibiotic resistance, vaccines, and immunobiologic agents.

Modern diagnostic equipment at Carden Dodson Medical Associates clinic

A consultant's mindset.

Infectious disease physicians are frequently the most consulted service in a hospital — serving as a resource for infection control and epidemiology. We bring that same consultative depth to every outpatient who walks through our doors on Flagler Drive.

When your primary physician encounters a diagnostic puzzle, we are the team they call. Complex infections. Antibiotic resistance. Post-operative complications. Tropical illness. We live in that space.
