How we
actually work.

We meet people where they are.
Not where the paperwork says they should be. Our intake team includes peers — people who have lived through the systems we work in. The first conversation is rarely about services. It is about trust.
In-home first visits
Most intakes happen in the family's kitchen, not our office. We come to you, anywhere in Hillsborough Township and the surrounding Somerset County area.
72-hour response window
From first call to first face-to-face contact, our standard is three business days. For crisis referrals, the standard is same day.

Plans are written with people, not for them.
Every care plan is co-authored with the individual and, where appropriate, their family. We bring clinical expertise; you bring lived expertise. Both are required for a plan that actually holds.
Co-authored care plans
Plans are reviewed every 90 days, in plain language, with the person they are about. No clinical jargon. No surprises.
Family voice in every review
Where the person consents, a family member or chosen supporter is invited to every planning meeting — not as an observer, but as a co-author.

We stay, even when the funding ends.
Programs come and go. Funding cycles end. What stays is the relationship. Our alumni network and peer support groups are open to anyone who has ever been part of a Devereux program — no expiration date.
Lifetime alumni access
Peer support groups, drop-in hours, and a dedicated alumni line staffed Tuesday through Saturday. Once Devereux, always Devereux.
Sliding-scale commitment
No one is turned away from core counseling services for inability to pay. Our sliding scale runs from $0 to $140 per session, based on household income.

Individual, family, and group therapy with licensed clinicians. Trauma-informed. Specializations in adolescent care, grief, and co-occurring substance use.

Short-term (3–7 day) staffed stabilization for individuals in acute behavioral health crisis. Calm alternative to emergency room admission. 24/7 admissions.

Supported Employment Placement
Job development, on-site job coaching, and ongoing workplace support for adults with disabilities. Partnership network of 40+ Hillsborough-area employers.

Weekly peer-led groups, drop-in hours, and a dedicated alumni line. Open to anyone who has completed a Devereux program — for life, at no cost.
