Comprehensive Financial Planning
A full written plan covering cash flow, insurance, retirement projection, education funding, and estate overview. Delivered in 60 days, refreshed annually.
We advise founders, families, and institutions across the Bethesda corridor on capital strategy, wealth structures, and the disciplined growth of what they have built.
Berkeley Point Capital was founded in Bethesda in 2014 by a small group of advisors who had grown weary of the volume model. We do not manage mutual funds, sell proprietary products, or accept commission from any third party. Every engagement begins with a written fiduciary pledge and ends only when you can answer, in plain English, what your money is doing and why.
Our clients are founders selling a first company, families restructuring inherited portfolios, and small institutions — a private school, a foundation, a trade association — that need a steady hand on treasury and investment policy. We work alongside your attorney and accountant rather than around them, and we bill transparently, by the engagement or by the year.
What you get from us is unhurried judgement. The kind that comes from sitting with a problem long enough to see the second-order consequences, and from having watched enough cycles to know which numbers actually matter.
A representative before-and-after for a Bethesda founder who sold a software business in 2023. Same assets, different architecture — and a materially different after-tax outcome over a ten-year horizon.
Every engagement is fixed-fee and quoted in writing before work begins. The figures below are typical starting points for Bethesda-area clients; complex or multi-entity matters are scoped separately. We do not bill hourly and we do not accept commission.

A second opinion on an existing portfolio — asset allocation, cost audit, tax efficiency, and a written set of recommendations you can act on or ignore.
Coordination with your attorney on trusts, gifting strategy, beneficiary designations, and Roth conversions — structured to minimise friction at the next generation.
For founders within five years of a sale: pre-transaction structuring, QSBS analysis, charitable planning, and a post-liquidity blueprint for the proceeds.
A discretionary relationship for portfolios of $2M and above. Quarterly reviews, tax-loss harvesting, rebalancing, and a single point of contact across your finances.
For small endowments, foundations, and trade associations: investment policy statements, manager due diligence, and reserve strategy — billed as a flat annual retainer.
All fees are disclosed in a written engagement letter before any work begins. Berkeley Point Capital does not custody assets; client funds are held at third-party custodians such as Schwab and Fidelity Institutional.
The Method
Two long conversations — one with you, one with your documents. We read the prior year's returns, statements, and estate papers before we say a word.
A written memo identifying the three or four decisions that actually matter, ranked by impact. Everything else is noise we set aside.
We model the recommended path in plain spreadsheets you can read, stress-tested against three scenarios — base, bad, and worse.
Annual review, mid-year check-in, and a standing invitation to call when life changes. The plan is a living document, not a binder on a shelf.
They told me to do nothing for six months. That advice, paid for in a single flat fee, saved me roughly forty times what it cost.Founder, Bethesda SaaS company · Sold 2023 · Client since 2021
Tell us, briefly, what you are trying to solve. If we are the right firm for the work, we will say so — and if we are not, we will tell you who is. There is no charge for the first call and no pressure to continue.
